Student Government Public Notice: Uncontested Election Candidates.

In accordance with the UNM–Gallup Student Government Election Code, the following candidates have submitted valid and verified applications for the upcoming Student Government Election. Each position listed below has only one eligible and uncontested candidate. As such, these candidates are subject to election by acclamation, pending the completion of the public notice and objection period.

Statement: Hello, my name is Isaac Toehe, Tódik’ǫ́zhí nishłį́, Kinyaa’áanii báshíshchíín, Tó Dích’íi’nii dashicheii, Táchii’nii dashinálí. I am a sophomore at UNM-Gallup running for Student Government President. I am committed to fostering a campus community rooted in inclusivity, collaboration, and student involvement. My goal is to ensure that every student’s voice is heard and represented, while providing opportunities for growth and success both inside and outside the classroom. I look forward to serving my peers and working together to strengthen our campus and UNM-G community.

Statement: Hello, I go by Eavan Edwards, and I am excited to be running for the position of Secretary in our college’s Student Government. As someone who values organization, communication, and collaboration, I want to ensure that every student’s voice is heard and that our meetings and initiatives are well-documented and transparent. My goal is to help create a stronger sense of connection on campus by supporting student-led events and promoting open communication between leadership and the student body. Together, I believe we can build a more engaged and supportive community here at UNM-Gallup!
Notice of Objection Rights
Any member of the UNM-Gallup student body who wishes to file an objection regarding candidate eligibility, over qualifications, or election procedure must submit a written objection to the Student Activity Specialist no later than:

Objections must clearly state the nature of the concern and provide any supporting documentation, in accordance with Article XII-A, Section 2 of the Election Code.
If no valid objections are received by the deadline, the listed candidates may be declared elected by acclamation and will be sworn in during the official installation ceremony, as outlined in the Election Code.

Welcome to The University of New Mexico-Gallup Student Government
The University of New Mexico-Gallup Student Government is a collaborative leadership assembly comprised of members of the UNM-Gallup student body. The Student Government is designed to be inclusive of all students who attend UNM-Gallup. It is intended to provide students with a podium to voice concerns, while providing opportunities to develop and strengthen executive competencies. There are varying levels of commitment and responsibility to meet the needs of the student body.
Student Government Mission Statement:
To constitute the enthusiam of the student body through leadership, inclusion, and initiation of programs that cultivate the lives of UNM-Gallup students.
What We Do
Student Government is a leadership development program for students who aspire to advance their academic and leadership abilities. Elected representatives initiate aspiring goals for the betterment of the student body to encourage a positive and prosperous educational experience. Student Government is the voice that conjoins the students, administration, and UNM-Gallup community.
- A forum for student concerns and ideas and as an interface for those issues with staff, faculty, and administration.
- Serving on committees concerned with the welfare of the student body.
- Managing student body financial affairs.
- Developing a student activity program to meet the varied needs and interests of the student population.
- Developing and monitoring guidelines for student activities in order to be accountable to the University community.
- Promoting high standards of personal conduct within the student body.
- Chartering on-campus student groups.
