UNM-Gallup Red Mesa Review Seeks Writing and Visual Arts Submissions

November 10, 2020 - The UNM-Gallup Red Mesa Review editorial board is looking for poetry, short fiction, essays, and visual art from people in Gallup and local communities of the Four Corners region. The Red Mesa Review originated at UNM-Gallup, but our ever-changing and vibrant community includes diverse creative expressions rooted throughout our region.
If you are interested in submitting your work, please follow these guidelines:
Poetry:
1-3 poems per submission (Word document)
Short Fiction:
Includes flash fiction and short stories. 1-3 pieces, 3,500 words max (Word Document)
Essays:
Includes memoir and creative nonfiction. 1-3 pieces, 3,500 words max (Word Document)
Email writing submissions to Eng48@unm.edu. The deadline is February 1, 2021.
- Writing submission must be sent as an attachment.
- Subject Line: Red Mesa Review_Last Name_First Name
- Email must include 1) Your name; 2) Personal Statement; 3) Submission Category; and 4) Contact Information (email and phone number)
The review only considers unpublished writing. Please do not submit any writing that has been published, including online and on social media. Simultaneous submissions are totally fine, but please notify the editors as soon as you can upon acceptance at another publication.
Visual Art:
1-3 high quality images of 2D or 3D medium of artwork for the upcoming digital issue. This may include drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, weaving, basketry, or installation.
- Format: Work must be saved as a JPEG image with at least 300 dpi and/or 1200 x 1800 pixels. Any submissions that are note saved in this format or at low resolution will not be considered. Please do not submit any detail shots.
- Save work as: Last Name_First Name_Title
Email krwilson@unm.edu by the deadline of February 1, 2021, and include the following in your email of each image submitted:
- Artists First and Last Name
- Title of Work
- Medium (ex: drawing, photography, painting, ceramics)
- Materials (ex. graphite, copper)
- Dimensions in Inches (HxWxD)
- Year Completed
