NATIONAL EMS WEEK
Categories: Students Faculty Staff Community
May 19, 2020 - We honor and celebrate our first responders and medical personnel during National EMS Week—which runs now through May 23! Especially during this pandemic, we are so appreciative of our heroes who work on the medical frontlines each day to take care of our families and communities. Their bravery and service is appreciated, and we join together to salute our emergency medical personnel.
Additionally, Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez and Vice President Myron Lizer issued a proclamation declaring May 17 – 23, 2020 as “Navajo Nation Emergency Medical Services Week” to honor all emergency medical services teams including first responders, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, emergency medical dispatchers, fire fighters, police officers, emergency physicians, emergency nurses, emergency trauma technicians, educators and administrators, and volunteer members.
Sonya Damon—our EMS Program Director—has recently created a fantastic presentation of UNM-Gallup summer and fall courses for those who wish to pursue a career in Emergency Medical Services.
Thank you to all of our medical heroes for your service to our community!
